Windell Prince Obituary

Clarendon, NC

Windell Devane Prince, age 76, of Clarendon, North Carolina was called to his heavenly home on May 7, 2023. After many years of health struggles, he passed from this earth at Columbus Regional Medical Center in Whiteville, North Carolina with his devoted wife by his side.

Windell was born at Rogers Clinic in Loris, South Carolina to Greer Collins Prince, Sr. and Mary Eulee Milligan Prince on November 26, 1946. In his early years he developed a love of fishing and gardening, and he honed his mechanical abilities. He worked many years as a mechanic in the textile industry before entering the service industry as a swimming pool service specialist. He was a man of faith and was a respected member of Clarendon Baptist Church, where he served in many capacities through the years including assisting with a community garden to provide fresh produce to church members for many seasons. He had a servant’s heart and helped friends and strangers alike in whatever manner he could. He was a regular blood donor and was recognized for his numerous donations. As a dedicated provider for his family, being of good character and doing the right thing are traits he stressed to his daughters and grandchildren. He enjoyed spending time with his family and Ladybug, his Jack Russell Terrier who was his loyal companion during the last years of his life.

Windell was predeceased by his parents listed above, son John Julio Prince, who did not survive to birth, brothers Greer Collins “GC” Prince, Jr. and Victor Thomas Prince, sister Nina Lee Prince, half-sisters Elmarie Prince Canady, Ila Pearl Prince Prinkki, and Mary Carolyn Edge Wheeler. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of fifty-six years, Sylvia Benton Prince, daughters Wendy Roblero and husband Walfre, Karen Shelton and husband Wayne, and Melinda Rivera, grandchildren Jonathon Parker, Porshia Heffner, Nathaniel Prince and wife Cristina, Aaron Heffner, Hannah Roblero, Walfre “Alex” Roblero, Rosalinda Rivera-Prince, and Catalina Rivera-Prince, great grandchildren Mikayla Weber, Levi Parker, Lindsey Prince, and Benjamin Bealmear, sisters Eudell Coe and Elizabeth Watts, and nieces and nephews and extended family members and friends.
