Mrs. Sylvia Faye Powell Williams, age 88, died Sunday, January 1, 2017 in the Lower Cape Fear Hospice and Life Care Center, Whiteville, NC.  Born January 24, 1928 in New Hanover County, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Stella Fowler Powell and the widow of Marion Wilson Williams. 

She is survived by two daughters: Bonnie Cartrette of Whiteville, Irene Norris of Whiteville; one son: Trent Williams of Aiken, SC; two sisters: Gladys Strickland of Wilmington, Alice Hobbs of Wilmington; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; eight great great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother and two grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 3, 2017 from 6 PM to 8 PM in the Inman Ward Funeral Home of Tabor City.

A Graveside service will be held Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at 3 PM in the Cribb Cemetery, Clarendon, NC.
