Loris, S.C.

     Pensalee Powell Harrelson of Loris passed away on Monday, January 23, 2017 at Regency Hospital in Florence, S.C.  She was 87.  Born October 12, 1929 in Loris. S.C., she was the daughter of John J. Powell and Julia Stevens Powell.  In addition to her parents she was predeceased in death by her husband Vernon V. Harrelson and a sister Maydee Powell.

     She was employed 34 years at Tabor Products in a supervisory position.

Mrs. Harrelson was very active in her church.  She sang in the choir, helped with the Silvertones, the Good News Club, and the Food Ministry.  She also served as the clerk of the Dogwood Hill Institute, continuing the legacy begun by her father and sister.

      She is survived by cousins: Anthony Fowler of Loris, Patricia Fowler Jackson of Green Sea, Glenda Hodges Mott of Loris and nieces: Barbara Harrelson and Diane Bellamy of Loris, and Wendy Parker of Aynor as well as other special nieces, nephews and cousins.

      Funeral services were held Thursday 11 AM, January 26, 2017 at Dogwood Hill Baptist Church, Loris, S.C. with Rev. Jimmy Floyd and Rev. Alvin Jackson officiating.  Interment was at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Tabor City, N.C.
