Mary "Beth" (Spivey) Bruton

Mary Elizabeth "Beth" Bruton, 99, passed away Sunday, December 18, 2022, in Lake Waccamaw, NC. She was born January 8, 1923 in Columbus County, a daughter of the late John Furney Spivey and Kitsey Belle (Jacobs) Spivey.

She was the former owner and operator of Mama's Restaurant in Tabor City.

She is survived by one son, John Gary "Jimmy" McMillan, Jr. of Lake Waccamaw; three grandchildren, Rev. Gary McMillan, III (Faye) of Garland, Roger Dale McMillan (Wendy) of Clarendon, and Tammy DeMattio (Dean) of N. Myrtle Beach; five great-grandchildren; and thirteen great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Kitsey Belle Spivey; her first husband, John Gary McMillan; second husband, William "Bill" Bruton; one grandson, Mark McMillan; and twelve brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, December 22, 2022, in the Inman Ward Funeral Home Chapel, with burial to follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday from 10:00-11:00 AM, one hour before the service in the chapel.
