Marvis Mickley Jacobs, age 84, formerly of Nakina, NC, died Friday, April 30, 2021 in the Greenbrier Assisted Living, Fairmont, NC. Born December 12, 1936 in Columbus County, NC, he was the son of the late Golie Richard Jacobs and Mary Aileen Jones Jacobs and the widower of Barbara Ellen Duncan Jacobs.
He is survived by one daughter: Nancy Jacobs of Pennsylvania; two brothers: Mitchell Jacobs of Leland, NC and Thurman Jacobs and his wife Sarah of Boiling Springs Lake, NC; three sisters: Kathy Gore and her husband Preston of the Old Dock Community, NC, Doris Inman and her husband Eugene of Shallotte, NC and Estelle Jacobs of Lee’s Summit, MO; and one grandchild: Randolph Jacobs of Fayetteville, NC.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three sons: Michael Eugene Jacobs, Marvin Richard Jacobs and Randy Dale Jacobs and one sister: Ethel Jacobs Williams.
Marvis was a member of Seven Creeks Baptist Church. He was an avid guitar player where he played at different churches and traveled to many prisons spreading the gospel through his music. Marvis loved spending time with his family.
Throughout his career, he worked with the North Carolina DOT and delivered newpapers for the Wilmington Star.
Visitation will be held Saturday, May 1, 2021 from 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM in the Inman Ward Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, May 1, 2021 at 2:00 PM in the Myrtle Green Cemetery.
