Larry Kent Harrelson

Larry Kent Harrelson, 83, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 2, 2023 surrounded by hisloving family. He was born in Columbus County NC on August 29, 1939, the son of the late Cecil Calvin Harrelson and the late Clyde Prince Harrelson.

Larry was a loving husband, father and friend. He loved to tell the story of the first time he met his wife, Genette, and fell in love at first sight. If you asked Larry his greatest accomplishment, he would say being a father and grandfather.  During the chaos of many family get togethers, with grandchildren running everywhere, climbing up and down his lap, you could see him beamingwith pride. He would tell anyone that would listen about the many accomplishments of his family. 

He worked as a long distance truck driver for over 50 years. He loved meeting people and cherished the many friendships he made both in his professional and personal life. He enjoyed a good conversation and loved to tell everyone about his adventures on the road. After retirement, Larry and his wife had a bountiful vegetable and flower garden and loved sharing the fruits of their labor with others.

Larry is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Genette Jernigan Harrelson; daughters, Kathie Harrelson and Denise Tungate; a son Larry Kent Harrelson, Jr. (Rebecca); grandchildren, Seth Harrelson (Kaley), Casey Harrelson, Logan Rogers (Brandon), Danielle Tungate, Dylan Tungate (Amanda), Nicole Alger (Billy), Larry K Harrelson, III (Lauren), Marshall Harrelson, great-grandchildren: Carys and Carrington Cribb; Cooper, Savannah And Tucker Harrelson; Jax, Ace and Rhys Rogers, Emma Driggers; Serenity, Lanston and Camden Alger. 

In addition to his parents, Larry was predeceased by his brother, Cecil Calvin Harrelson, Jr., and son-in-law Tommy Harrelson.

Graveside services will be held at a future date.
