Chadbourn, NC 

Betty Gail Smith Simmons age 79, of Chadbourn died Sunday, March 26, 2023 in the Lower Cape Hospice and Life Care Center, Whiteville, NC. 

Born in Columbus County, NC, she was the daughter of the late James Paul Smith and Arnesa Faulk Smith. 

She was the widow of Carl Simmons. 

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Pete Ray Buffkin, Gregory Ran Buffkin, one brother, James Thomas Smith. 

She is survived by one sister, Linda Long Alley of Ocean Isle Beach, NC, seven grandchildren; Jennifer Strickland(John) of Chadbourn, NC, Shawn Buffkin of Clarendon, NC, Joshua Buffkin(Kristin) of Boone, NC, Chelsey Buffkin of Clarendon, NC, Jonathan Buffkin(Lindsey) of Burnsville, NC, Stacie Buffkin of Clarendon, NC, Jarrode Cartret of Clarendon, and seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at 3:00pm in Inman Ward Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the McPherson Cemetery, Chadbourn, NC. 

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service in the chapel.
