Bettie Jo (Gore) Jenrette

Tabor City, NC

Bettie Jo Gore Jenrette, 80, of Tabor City, N.C. went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday morning, January 8, 2022 at the Columbus Medical Center.  She was the youngest of thirteen children born to the late Chester and Lillie Bell Gore of Tabor City.  She dedicated her life to Jesus Christ at an early age and she was a member of Old Zion Wesleyan Church. She loved to sing the hymns of Zion even in moments before her passing.

Bettie Jo graduated from Tabor City High School and, after years of work in the industrial setting, she decided to enroll at Southeastern Community College to pursue her degree in nursing where she was successful in earning her license to practice at the Columbus Regional Medical Center.  Her family has always been the center of her earthly existence and she demonstrated this by forsaking her career to take care of her husband of 33 years, Harry Garland Jenrette, Jr., until his death in 1992.  She was known to all as a caring individual who never knew a stranger.  She loved listening to country and gospel music, but she would let everyone know that none could sing it like Elvis Presley.  She was known to frequent and be on the front row of any event that featured Elvis. 

In addition to beloved parents, husband, and twelve siblings, Bettie Jo was predeceased by two daughters, Jeanene Jenrette Lee and Wendy Jenrette Fipps, both of Tabor City, N.C.  What a wonderful reunion is taking place in heaven!

Bettie Jo Jenrette leaves a proud legacy for others to remember.  She is survived by her daughter, Michele Jenrette Williams and husband, Jonathan, of Tabor City, N.C.; grandchildren, Madison Lee Ward of Whiteville, N.C., Harrison Lee and wife Lauren of Longs, S.C., Chessa Lee of Tabor City, N.C., and Jon Williams, of Tabor City, N.C.; and great-grandchildren, Nash Ward and Noxx Ward of Tabor City, N.C.

A service of remembrance will be held at the Inman-Ward Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at 2:00 p.m.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.  The internment service will be held at the Isaac Gore Cemetery located on Miller Rd, Tabor City, N.C.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Isaac Gore Cemetery Fund, 1175 Vinegar Hill Rd, Tabor City, N.C.
