William Richard Lanier, Sr., age 74, of Clarendon, NC, died Sunday, July 7, 2019 in the Lower Cape Fear Hospice and Life Care Center in Whiteville, NC. Born July 31, 1944 in Columbus County, NC, he was the son of the late William Rossie Lanier and Gladys Lee Cribb Lanier and the widower of Violet Soles Lanier.
He is survived by two sons: William Richard "Richie" Lanier, Jr. of Clarendon, NC and Shannon Lynn Lanier and wife Alicia of Clarendon, NC; two brothers: Thurman Odell Lanier and wife Bonnie of Clarendon, NC and Waylon Lanier and wife Barbara of Chadbourn, NC; and four grandchildren: William Richard Lanier III, Rossie Blake Lanier, Kaitlynn Dawn Lanier and Hayden Lucas Lanier.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one niece: Frankie Lanier.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 9, 2019 from 7 PM to 9 PM in the Inman Ward Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at 11 AM in the Inman Ward Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Gore Cemetery.
