Irene (Sellers) Godwin

Irene Sellers Godwin, age 90, of Clarendon, NC died Wednesday, December 11, 2019 in her home. Born October 25, 1929 in Columbus County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Pearson and Mary Norris Sellers and the widow of Deams Godwin.

She is survived by two sons: Jerry Godwin and his wife Deborah of Clarendon, NC and Dennie Godwin and his wife Mary Lou of Clarendon, NC; two daughters: Judy Whitaker and her husband Jim of Ocean Isle Beach, NC and Phyllis Mercer and her husband Tony of Chadbourn, NC; eight grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers: Harmon Sellers, True Love Sellers and Eugene Sellers; three sisters: Juanita Clewis, Geneva Spencer and Doshia Nobles.

Visitation will be held Friday, December 13, 2019 from 6:00 til 8:00 PM in the Inman Ward Funeral Home.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, December 14, 2019 at 3:00 PM in the Forest Lawn Cemetery.
