David James Tyson, age 81, of Tabor City, died Tuesday, December 18, 2018 in his home. Born May 30, 1937 in Columbus County, NC, he was the son of the late Julius James and Ida Bell Soles Tyson.
He is survived by his wife: Margaret Roberta Soles Tyson of the home; two sons: David Jeffery Tyson and wife Karen of Raleigh, NC and Richard Gregory Tyson and wife Zuleita Anne of Summerville, SC; one daughter: Sonja Godwin and husband Danny of Chadbourn, NC; one sister: Jane Cartrette of Clarendon, NC; four grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter: Jennie Lynn Timmons and one sister: Annie Bell Lovette.
He was a founding member of Clarendon Free Will Baptist Church.
A graveside service will be held Friday, December 21, 2018 at 2:00 PM in the Myrtle Green Cemetery, Tabor City, NC.
